Leanne Johnson is the newly appointed Area Manager at Adults Supporting Adults (ASA), a Lincolnshire social care charity.
In this article she describes her new role and the monumental structure changes required to sustain quality in a growing organisation.
6 weeks ago, Leanne joined ASA following a career in social work (having recently qualified), majoring on mental health and personal budget review.
She describes how ASAs Lincolnshire coverage (that was originally split into 4), has now been divided into 2; East & West. Leanne, along with Karen McNulty now manage each respective area, which opened up promotion opportunities for Vanessa Cowling & Sharon Thacker – both now promoted to Senior Area Supervisor. This created a capacity for 2 new Area Supervisors, thus now for each area, we have an Area Manager, a Senior Supervisor and 4 Area Supervisors.
The overriding purpose of this was to prepare the Organisation for fast expansion and growth in each area, anticipating and setting measures to maintain excellent levels of quality, consistently, across the County.
Leanne describes a very close team who actively embrace change. Sharing an office with Leanne is Jackie Quant whose new full time role is to manage training for new and existing colleagues. Also in the office is Emma Duncomb who has become Assessment Manager and as such specifically involved in recruiting providers for Extended Stay and Respite services.
To keep her finger on the pulse, Leanne also has a case load at supervisor level, including one extended stay client, respite and a day time provision client. She feel this will help her get to know the rest of the team better, learn from the very knowledgeable and experienced. Her contribution will be the 10 years of mental health training which she hopes to share with others. That’s true synergy!
