Adults Supporting Adults were delighted to have one of their Chair board member (also Partner at Duncan & Toplis) recognised at last weeks Lincolnshire Voluntary Sector Awards.
People from all over Lincolnshire gathered at Springfield Horticultural centre to celebrate the individuals and organisations who make a difference to peoples lives.
Keith Phillips was awarded the BERT SHAW AWARD recognising ‘demonstrated excellence in his work on a Board of Trustees’
A few words about Keith from ASA CEO Trixie Bennett;
ASA is today a very successful Lincolnshire based charity. I started this Charity from a nursing / learning disability background and quickly realised the need for business skills.
At this stage Keith agreed to come on board to help me with the financial aspects of running a business (as an accountant/ FD). Without those business aspects the Charity would not have been able to support the hundreds of individuals it has today.
Early on, his role evolved beyond the financial call of duty – he is also heavily involved in our networking/ building connections, events and public speaking about ASA. There is no doubt that this has highly contributed towards the success of the Charity and therefore the benefit of hundreds of individuals.
Nine years later Keith is still supporting us – giving up a lot of his time – and has never been paid. Keith is an Accountants at Duncan Toplis, his day job is about making people rich – however his work outside of that is only about enriching peoples lives! On top of his role on the ASA Board, he works as a Governor at school, holds pub quizzes to fundraise for school, fundraises for MacMillan, volunteers for the Round Table. Keith is a person-centred accountant!
By nature Keith is approachable, has a sensible yet entrepreneurial business approach to the third sector which allows us to be creative; the perfect balance of a business man – with a heart! We are not going to let him go!
