LINCOLNSHIRE TOPS EAST MIDS INSPECTIONS FOR CARE SERVICES
Lincolnshire’s elderly and vulnerable residents benefit from high quality care services – with the county coming out top overall in the East Midlands.
The independent Care Quality Commission (CQC) carried out inspections across the region of compliance against standards, looking at care homes, care homes with nursing and home support, and supported living services.
The news coincides with National Care Home Open Day on 21 June when a number of care homes across Lincolnshire will be holding open days to showcase the services they provide.
Glen Garrod, director of Adult Social Services at Lincolnshire County Council, said:
“This is very reassuring news for Lincolnshire residents and testimony to the hard work of care providers and their teams, together with colleagues from the NHS and county council Adult Care services. We have a large and growing elderly population who deserve this high standard of care which we’re proud to say has been achieved despite the well-publicised budget challenges. However, we won’t be resting on our laurels and will continue striving to work with partners to give the people of Lincolnshire access to quality care.”
CQC inspection results show that care homes without nursing in Lincolnshire have the highest compliance with standards in the East Midlands, at 92%, and the second-highest with nursing at 89%. Supported Living and home support also come in narrowly second with 90% compliance and all figures combined place the county as the region’s best.
Barry Earnshaw, Chair of Lincolnshire Care Association [LinCA], said: “The result of the inspections in Lincolnshire demonstrates the high quality of care being delivered by Care Provides in the County. One of Lincolnshire Care Associations key roles is to provide a range of support to Care Providers to enable them to deliver high quality services to vulnerable people, together with Adult Social Care Services and the NHS. This is an excellent achievement by the Care Sector in Lincolnshire, one of which we can feel proud, and which shows the commitment to providing high standards of care for our communities in the County”.
